01Illustrative, not adviceResults depend on the assumptions you enter and are not financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.
02Taxes are not modeledThe planner does not yet model taxes, account-level withdrawal order, or trading costs from rebalancing.
03Stress tests are conditionalA forced event asks whether the plan survives that sequence; it does not estimate the chance of the event occurring.
04Coverage is explicitConnections import only supported account and investment data. Manually tracked net-worth assets remain clearly separated from investable holdings.
Can I use MyFIREDesk for free?
Yes. Configure Interactive Brokers Flex and eToro, add multiple supported public wallets, cash, and deposits, view your unified portfolio, and create one foundational retirement plan for free.
Is MyFIREDesk a subscription?
No. Full Access is a one-time, non-consumable Mac App Store purchase. The US price is $49.99; local App Store pricing applies.
Do I have to connect an account to explore the app?
No. You can enter cash, deposits, other portfolio values, property, vehicles, private businesses, and other net-worth assets manually. Connecting broker or wallet data is always your choice.
How do property and planned asset sales affect my retirement plan?
Property, vehicles, and other assets contribute their net equity to Net Worth, but stay outside your investable portfolio, allocation, and retirement starting capital. You can link income or expenses to an asset and, with Full Access, model a hypothetical sale that adds estimated net proceeds to the portfolio in a chosen month. The planner can account for debt and selling costs and stop linked cash flows after the sale; taxes are not modeled.
What does plan success mean?
A simulated path succeeds when it stays funded through the planning end age and meets any minimum ending-balance goal you set.
Can retirement spending change over time?
Yes. Select several built-in or custom patterns for the same plan—for example an active start, periodic travel, and late-life support—and MyFIREDesk combines them into one monthly spending flow. Patterns can repeat on a schedule and use percentages of ongoing spending, so each one remains reusable across plans with different budgets.
Does MyFIREDesk ever place trades?
No. Account connections are read-only, allocation targets are hypothetical, and the app does not move money or take custody of assets.
What can a connected AI assistant do?
With Full Access, a compatible MCP client can read the portfolio, net worth, allocation, plans, projections, and stress scenarios you expose. Separate opt-in permissions control actions such as refreshing data, updating manual assets or classifications, creating and editing plans, and running projections or stress tests. MyFIREDesk never exposes trading or money-transfer tools.
Does Local AI mean the AI model runs on my Mac?
Not necessarily. The connection to MyFIREDesk uses a local helper with no network listener or network access, but the AI application you choose may send returned data to its own model provider. That application's privacy policy and data controls apply.
What happens when one source cannot refresh?
MyFIREDesk keeps that source's last successful holdings, marks them as stale, and preserves fresh results from other providers.
